The 2011
Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera is back and faster
and lighter than ever before. Lamborghini first introduced the
light weight model Superleggera which means "super-light"
back in 2007.
The 2011
Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera loses its weight through
the use of carbon fiber the exterior and interior components,
the most notable being the engine cover, rear wing, sill panels,
rear diffuser, mirror housings, some underbody paneling, and
the interior tunnel and door panels. Another 28.6 pounds were
lost in the 19-inch forged-aluminum wheels.
The LP570-4
Superleggera uses the lightweight material polycarbonate for
the engine window, rear and side windows. Where as the old model
used polycarbonate for just the engine window.
Lamborghini
have tweaked the engine management software to squeeze another
10 horsepower from the Gallardo’s direct-injection V10
570 horsepower motor. The LP570-4 Superleggera also gets a new
launch-control mode, which cranks the 90-degree, all-alloy V10
up to 5,000 rpm before racing off the line. Not bad from a car
which also lowered its C02 emissions by 20.5 percent and improved
its city fuel economy by 2 mpg on automatic transmission models.
Aerodynamics
on the 2011 LP570-4 Superleggera have also been improved by
Lamborghini engineers who have remodeled the front bumper. The
new shape pushes more air into the radiators and also gives
more down force over the front axle.
